Aluminum packaging prides itself on its sustainability, making it the ideal choice in the face of climate change, to which humanity will have to respond and adapt its lifestyle.
Compared to the familiar plastic in which we are used to packaging most products and which can actually be recycled three times at most, aluminum offers a much better alternative. Unlike plastic, it is infinitely recyclable , with each cycle, 95% of energy is saved compared to the production of a new can, and only 3-5% of material is lost .
Finding and extracting aluminum is also not difficult, as it is the most available metal in the earth's crust and only 660℃ is needed to melt it (1500℃ is needed to melt glass).
This also raises the question: What is actually recycled more? In this respect too, cans have the upper hand, because according to studies, up to 70% of aluminum is recycled and 75% of the aluminum ever produced is still in circulation today. This is a dramatic difference compared to glass, of which 34% is recycled, and plastic, of which only 12% is also recycled globally.
In terms of transport, which also leaves a significant carbon footprint, cans and PET bottles are much more environmentally friendly to transport than glass containers due to their low weight.
